Callum Hudson-Odoi has been the biggest breakout star from the academy at Stamford Bridge this season and some Chelsea fans believe that midfielder Billy Gilmour will be the next off the production line.

Gilmour, 17, is a highly-rated midfielder that is rising through the youth ranks and is impressing many.

The Blues saw their Under-19s side qualify for the European Youth League final on Friday against Porto by beating Barcelona on penalties in the semi-final.

Gilmour impressed for Chelsea’s young guns in the middle of the park and also converted his penalty in the shootout.

The Scottish teenager moved to West London after being at Rangers as a youngster and is now a key player for the Blues Under-19s team.

He is a central midfielder that is technically gifted and takes care of the ball well, which could make him perfect for a deeper role in Maurizio Sarri’s team in the long-term.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Andreas Christensen and Hudson-Odoi are flying the flag for academy graduates in the senior set-up, but it would be encouraging to see more make the step up from successful youth teams.
