Tuchel should recall Chelsea attacker tonight even though he's not scored in his last eight games - TCC View

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel should opt to recall Mason Mount tonight, who dropped down to the bench for the weekend’s defeat.

Mount, 23, was only given a late cameo appearance during Saturday’s Premier League 1-0 defeat to Manchester City, which realistically ended any hope of competing for the title.

The Blues will be aiming to return to winning ways on Tuesday night during the trip to the Amex Stadium, though.

Tucehl’s side play this evening away against Brighton, and were held to a 1-1 draw against them in the previous league meeting at Stamford Bridge last month.

For certain, it’s an incredibly tough match when three points is essential.

Chelsea need Mount

Yes, Mount’s form has nosedived a little. The versatile attacker hasn’t scored in any of his last eight games across all competitions. In addition, ESPN pundit Craig Burley has recently been tearing into the England international’s form.

However, Chelsea need him back in the starting XI.

The 23-year-old’s not been looking at his very sharpest in the past few weeks, but teammates around him are no better.

Unfortunately, inconsistency is a major issue for players such as Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Mount’s one of the individuals within Tuchel’s squad that can claim to have had a decent 2021/22 season so far, along with most of the defence.

He’s scored seven times in the league already this campaign, and gets plenty of goalscoring opportunities by usually playing further up the pitch in offensive positions.

There is a lack of creativity right now within the Blues XI, so hopefully he can be the man to inject something special against Brighton.

Also, he’s got a knack of delivering top performances whenever question marks are put over his head.

He should see any criticism fired his way as a compliment because he’s got so much talent to unleash.
