Chelsea have several players out on loan really impressing this season but perhaps none more so than Conor Gallagher.

The 21-year-old is one from a long line of talented youngsters developed in Chelsea’s academy, something which the first team have massively benefited from in the last couple of years.

Gallagher, who’s an all-action central midfielder, is currently on a season-long loan at Premier League and London rivals Crystal Palace. For Chelsea, everything is going to plan right now.

Ian Wright recently called him “unbelievable” for the high calibre displays he’s been delivering in the top flight. It’s remarkable to see how quickly he suited Palace.

No senior England call-up this time around

Gallagher’s form has been so expectational this season that many supporters were tipping him for a maiden call-up to the senior England squad. He’s been a regular for his nation’s Under-21s of late, though.

The dynamic midfielder has three goals and two assists in 10 appearances for Palace. However, you have to watch the Chelsea loanee to see what a difference he’s making at Selhurst Park both in and out of possession.

England manager Southgate has overlooked him for November’s upcoming international break, but his comments in his Thursday press conference should leave Gallagher buzzing.

“Emile [Smith Rowe], Conor Gallagher and Marc Guehi, in particular, are all playing very well with their clubs, but we’ve got depth,” Southgate said

To be name-checked by the England manager is massive for Gallagher.

His form in the Premier League this campaign has been good enough to get a mention from the Three Lions boss, so his aim has to be to keep it up.

Ian Wright, who is clearly a big admirer, finds it frustrating that Gallagher has been omitted from the November squad.

Southgate comments should grab Tuchel attention

For Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, he’s going to be alerted to Gallagher after hearing comments from international manager Southgate.

It’s another reminder of how well Gallagher has done in the past couple of months. Surely it’s only a matter of time before he gets a first senior England call-up. He looks a perfect fit in the Palace XI put together by their manager Patrick Vieira, too.

Tuchel has overseen Trevoh Chalobah’s induction to the first team at Stamford Bridge and surely he’s got an eye on who can follow that path in the future.

Gallagher’s praise from the England boss has to push him even further on to Tuchel’s radar. He’s someone that gets fans off their seat because of his energy and skill.
