Who can solve Chelsea's striker crisis?

Chelsea’s striker crisis is a real problem. Their two strikers are not contributing enough goals.

Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata have scored one goal between them this season.

Chelsea need to find another striker. Here are some of the possible options.

Buy a striker in January

Suitable strikers would be expensive. Mauro Icardi of Inter would cost around £100 million but he is their captain and would be reluctant to leave.

Nabil Fekir has a price of around £60 or £70 million but he is not an out and out striker. Andrea Belotti was outstanding a few years ago but he would also be extremely expensive. A cheaper, less glamorous option might be a proven Premier League striker like Marko Arnautovic.

False 9

Maurizio Sarri’s Napoli played with what could be called a false nine formation. Lorenzo Insigne, Dries Mertens and Jose Callejon are all small, quick and technical players.

At Chelsea, Willian, Eden Hazard and Pedro might be able to do something similar. Callum Hudson-Odoi could also possibly suit that role.

Promote from within

Another option would be to recall a striker who is out on loan or to fast track a youth striker. Michy Batshuayi’s touch and back to goal play can be weak but he certainly knows how to score.

With development, Tammy Abraham could be perfect for Sarri’s football. So could the academy striker, Daishawn Redan, who is tipped for greatness. If he were fast tracked, who knows how much he could offer this season.
