Chelsea created history on Saturday night in Portugal by winning the Champions League – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter were amazed by the individual performance of German Kai Havertz.

The Blues won their second ever Champions League with a 1-0 victory against Premier League and English rivals Manchester City in Porto’s stadium.

Havertz, who has been criticised so much during his debut season, produced a moment that will go down in Chelsea folklore. The German attacker scored the only goal of the game just shy of half time to secure the win.

After a superb through ball from Mason Mount, Havertz rounded goalkeeper Ederson before tucking the ball into the empty net.

Chelsea were underdogs going into the contest, but on the balance deserved the European crown after leaving everything on the pitch. The defence was heroic.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has been outstanding since his arrival, and predecessor Frank Lampard for the role he played earlier in the competition.

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media named Havertz as the standout individual on the pitch, albeit the entire team were outstanding.

Havertz, 21, will forever be remembered by fans after scoring.

The forward was outstanding all game. As well as well showing calmness to score, he worked his socks for 90 minutes with constant energy in the final third.

The exciting thing is that it’s only the start for the talented youngster.

Here are some Blues fans waxing lyrical about Havertz on Saturday night:
