John Terry reacted on Twitter last night with a five word response to Thiago Silva’s latest Chelsea performance.
Thomas Tuchel’s side put down a marker in the Champions League on Tuesday night by thrashing Italian giants Juventus 4-0 at Stamford Bridge.
It was a result which means the Blues move top of their Champions League group and secure qualification to the knockout stages with one game still left to play.
Trevoh Chalobah, Reece James, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Timo Werner were all on the scoresheet during the memorable victory. However, Silva provided a piece of magic himself at the other end of the pitch.
The veteran defender produced a stunning goal-line clearance during the first half to deny ex-Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata from scoring. Also, the Brazilian centre-back was nonchalant with his defending all night as his superb individual season continued.
Terry, who’s Chelsea’s greatest ever defender in the eyes of most, uploaded a post on social media about Silva.
It’s no surprise to see a defensive genius like Terry turn his eyes to someone at the back that didn’t score against Juventus.
Silva contender for Chelsea POTY so far
It’s hard to remember Silva putting a foot wrong this season.
The 37-year-old centre-half is imperious at the heart of the back three, giving so much confidence to players around him with his sheer presence.
Pat Nevin said this week neutrals are starting to understand how good Silva is right now. There is no doubt last night’s Champions League display was another reminder of that fact, too.
It’s easy to forget his age given the way he strolls about the pitch.
Chelsea need to get him to sign a one-year contract extension because his current deal is due to expire next summer.
