‘Will be different’: Carlo Ancelotti hints at Real Madrid starting eleven to face Chelsea

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has had his say on his possible starting eleven for Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Chelsea.

Both Chelsea and Real Madrid suffered a defeat in their respective league match against Wolves and Villarreal, respectively.

The two managers; Frank Lampard and Ancelotti, might have paid the price for their decisions to rotate their squad and rest a few key players ahead of the crucial match.

Lampard left N’Golo Kante out of the matchday squad entirely, while Ancelotti made a few changes from the team that defeated Barcelona 4-0 in midweek.

However, Ancelotti suggested that he may field the same eleven that he used in the Clasico win against Chelsea.

“In terms of the Champions League, it’s a defeat that doesn’t change our mood for Wednesday’s game, which will be different,” the Italian said in his press conference after the 3-2 loss to Villarreal.

“I may repeat the same eleven from the Camp Nou.

“I made a lot of rotations today because the game against Barcelona demanded a lot from us physically and mentally.”

Real Madrid will likely be able to do so since, according to their official website, Ferland Mendy, who is still nursing a thigh injury, was the only one of their players who was absent in Sunday’s training sessions.

Chelsea, on the other hand, are in a tougher spot.

Thiago Silva, who has arguably been their best player this season, is still expected to be out, and so is Mason Mount, who reportedly missed the last game due to an injury set back.

In addition to that, unlike Ancelotti, Lampard who has just been appointed as a caretaker manager is likely still figuring out his best eleven.
