Olivier Giroud’s agent Michael Manuello said the striker is disappointed with Frank Lampard’s treatment of him this season, as he opened the door to a potential January exit.
The 34-year-old made just one start in the League Cup this season.
It is even safe to say that he is now behind both Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham in the pecking order.
There has been pressure from France boss Didier Deschamps recently, as he believes Giroud’s lack of game time at Chelsea has affected the player mentally and physically.
Giroud’s agent Manuello has now broken the silence.
While the agent understands there is more competition at Chelsea after their summer spending, he argued that Giroud deserves better after a brilliant spell at the end of last season.
“Playing with Ziyech, Havertz, Werner is not the same as without them,” Manuello told Foot Mercato.
“So I put it into perspective anyway.
“But we must not be blind and Frank Lampard has decided to put Tammy Abraham before him.
“It’s not necessarily fair compared to what Olivier had done at the end of the season. But he has the right, it is his choice.
“So indeed if it continues in this direction, then yes in December we will meet again like in December 2019.”
Manuello also added that Giroud has always been professional despite the disappointing treatment.
“Deep down there is a bit of disappointment when you give Abraham a chance rather than him,’ he explained.
“He also knows that at 34 he cannot make 55 matches per season. Physically, this is not possible.
“There is a small disappointment but he is always ready for the team.”
Giroud will reconsider his options next month
He also pointed out that, unlike last season, there will no option of an extension in Giroud’s contract and there will be a desire to play somewhere else if the situation continues.
“For now, it’s too early to know what is really concrete and what is not,” he added.
“The interests, the rumors, for me that has little interest. We will see from mid-December.”
