Chelsea centre-back Thiago Silva had his first training session at Cobham with the rest of his new Blues teammates.

Today was the first group training session for both new defensive reinforcements Silva and Ben Chilwell as the pair moved closer to their Chelsea debuts.

The latter has been rehabilitating the Achilles injury he suffered at Leicester City which forced him out since July.

Silva, on the other hand, only arrived in London last week as he was given extra time off to spend with his family after featuring in the Champions League final match for Paris Saint-Germain.

The Brazil international is clearly excited about his first training and meeting new teammates.

He wrote on Instagram: “So glad to share with you this amazing moment, my first training session at Cobham with Chelsea FC.”

Chilwell also seems to enjoy meeting Silva and a few England teammates including Mason Mount.

Lampard and the Chelsea fans might have to wait a bit longer before seeing their new defenders in action, however.

The home fixture against Liverpool on Sunday will arguably be too soon for both Silva and Chilwell who would only have a few days of full training by then.

In Silva’s case, it would not be such a problem, at least for now, since both Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma looked solid in the win against Brighton.

It is Chilwell that Lampard would miss more given Marcos Alonso’s really struggled defensively in the previous game, particularly against his former teammate Tariq Lamptey.
