Ben Chilwell reacts to Chelsea teammate's unstoppable performance in Aston Villa win

Ben Chilwell has had his say on Romelu Lukaku’s incredible second-half performance in Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Aston Villa on Sunday.

Lukaku was absent for a month due to an ankle injury back in October before being forced out again after testing positive for Covid-19 last week.

At Villa Park, however, it was as if he has been in form for a while.

Thomas Tuchel, who decided to use Christian Pulisic as a number nine at the start of the game, eventually unleashed Lukaku after the break.

The score was still 1-1 at that point and Villa arguably had better chances in the first half.

It took Lukaku just 10 minutes to take the lead for the visitors with a brilliant header.

It was a simple, routine header for a striker like him, but the Blues, who had played without a natural striker for quite some time, it was huge.

Lukaku once again proved crucial when Chelsea needed to put the game to bed. He showcased his pace and strength in the last minutes of the game and won a penalty.

Ben Chilwell, who is still out due to a partial ACL tear, was clearly impressed by the Belgium international’s performance.

Speaking after the game, Lukaku admitted that he enjoys having to make those types of runs.

“I needed a performance like this today,” the striker told Sky Sports (via BBC).

“It’s been difficult getting the end of games. I kept working hard. I’m happy with my performance and have to push on.

“I try to be less static and on the move all the time. It was a brilliant cross.

“My preferred action is running into space, using my speed and my power.”
