Ben Chilwell trains at Cobham for first time following heel injury
Chelsea new signing Ben Chilwell has taken part in a light training session at Cobham which suggests he could make his Chelsea debut in their opening fixture against Brighton on September 14.
The 23-year-old struggled with a heel injury which forced him to miss Leicester City’s last few games of the 2019/20 season.
Having had fitness training in the past four to five weeks, Chilwell has begun a light training session for the first time since signing a five-year contract with the Blues.

This is positive news for Blues manager Frank Lampard who is clearly a big fan of the England international.
“He is a player I know very well, he has been pretty much England’s first-choice left-back now in recent times,” the manager told Chelsea’s official website last Sunday.
“Great qualities in terms of how he can join in, he is athletic, his physicality, the way he plays and the quality of his left foot.
“I am excited to work with him so I think he is a great addition.”

Whether the fullback would be ready for Chelsea’s away fixture to Brighton’s Amex Stadium on September 14 remains unclear, but Lampard would still have Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri as an option, at least for the time being since either of the pair could leave before the start of the season.
Alonso made the starting line-up in their pre-season friendly against Brighton on August 29 but Emerson was not in the squad.
