Chelsea supporters on social media were in a buoyant mood after discovering Xavier Mbuyamba had been summoned to the seniors.
Mbuyamba was spotted in the background of Saul Niguez’s first training session following his deadline day move from Atletico Madrid.
The Dutch defender had previously failed to be promoted from the development set up, despite being a Blue since last August.
In the teenager’s defense, he has been in and out of the treatment room way too frequently in the past year.
He only made his Chelsea debut in April, having been constantly held back by a variety of injuries.
Now back to full fitness, Mbuyamba earned Thomas Tuchel’s recognition and Blues fans absolutely loved it.
Here’s how they reacted on Twitter:

This is a massive step for Mbuyamba, who will be desperate to make a name for himself following a slow start to his Chelsea career.
Dubbed the next Virgil van Dijk, the centre-back certainly has a reputation to live up to.
As the 19-year-old gradually makes strides in the junior sides, it’s apparent why he has been compared to Liverpool’s rearguard leader.
Strong, tall, powerful, quick and sharers of the same nationality, the similarities are there to behold.
Chelsea will certainly be hoping Mbuyamba can become even half the player van Dijk is now.
Especially as they are clearly still on the search for a central defender.
A move for Jules Kounde looked on the cards for a large portion of the summer, but talks fizzled out on the final day.
Revisiting the Sevilla star in January is still a strong possibility, yet the Blues might just want to keep in mind who they have in reserve already.
