Chelsea right-back Cesar Azpilicueta spoke about the poor defensive performance and how the team should response after 3-2 loss against West Ham United.
After a three-winning streak since the Premier League restart, the loss against their London rivals is a major blow to Chelsea’s hope of securing the top four finish.
The Blues failed to capitalise the opportunity to overtake Leicester City to the third place and simultaneously restore a five-point gap to the chasing pack of Manchester United and Wolverhampton.
The entire Chelsea defence have understandably been under scrutiny after conceding three goals, including the skipper Azpilicueta who was beaten by Tomas Soucek as the midfielder scored West Ham’s first goal.

However, Azpilicueta also said that the underwhelming defensive display was tough on him personally.
He told Chelsea’s official website: “For myself as a defender, to concede three goals is very frustrating and disappointing and it hurts.
“I cannot wait to go back to work and train, to play the next game because I feel personally very band and very frustrated.
“I want to go to the next game as soon as possible to address it.”
About how the team response, Azpilicueta said: “We have to be honest to analyse ourselves and the team because when you see this kind of game, it’s down to us.
“We have to take responsibility and have the ability to accept when we are not doing the right things and when we are making mistakes.”
