Chelsea fans give thumbs up on reported target Ben Chilwell

Chelsea are reportedly eyeing Leicester City’s defender Ben Chilwell – and some of the club’s supporters are excited about the speculation around potentially bringing him to Stamford Bridge.

The Daily Mail reports that Frank Lampard’s team are leading the race for the England international and view him as a “key target”.

The report explains that the Blues will try make a swoop for him in January, if they see their two-window transfer ban overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Meanwhile, the Sun has reported that Manchester United are showing an interest in Leicester’s full-back too, as well as his teammate James Maddison.

Chilwell is a highly-rated talent to come out of Leicester’s academy and is now an ever-present in the team.

The left-back is a serious threat when he bombs forward with pace and energy, which could make him a real favourite at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea currently have Emerson Palmieri as their first-choice left-back and Marcos Alonso provides cover, while their is also academy star Ian Maatsen who is being tipped as a future first teamer.

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media have suggested that Chilwell would be a great fit with the club.

He’s a 22-year-old that could certainly compete strongly for a starting role in the Blues and add real enthusiasm up and down the left flank.

His return of five assists in the Premier League last season highlights his danger when pushing forward and there is still room for improvement with him in terms of his final ball.

N’Golo Kante has turned out to be an outstanding Blues signing from Leicester and on the flip side Danny Drinkwater struggled to make the transition, but Chilwell would surely be more likely to follow the path of the former.
