Chelsea fans rejoiced when they heard the news that the club was able to sign players in January. An appeal on the ban was accepted by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in December and things were looking good.
It came at a time when results were beginning to suffer and fans were hopeful of some much needed January reinforcements. An unprecedented amount of names have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, but halfway into the month, Lampard has done nothing.
Some fans are becoming increasingly frustrated and questioning why the club bothered to appeal the ban if no signings were going to be made. The Daily Mail has reported that the Blues are unlikely to make use of the £40 million buy-back clause they have for centre-back Nathan Ake because Lampard is keen on keeping Andreas Christensen.
Several left-backs and strikers have also been linked with the Blues this month, but every move seems to fall through for one reason or another.
January business is notoriously difficult. It is important for people to realise how well the season has gone so far. Chelsea are five points clear of fifth place in the Premier League and have a Champions League last-16 tie with Bayern Munich to look forward to.
If the club were to sign some top players this month, they would come at a premium. There is also a chance that the Blues are merely taking their time before a flurry of activity late on in the window. Either way, it will be interesting to see the developments in the coming weeks.
Here are some fans reactions to the lack of transfer activity so far:

News of other clubs have completed or about to sign players. It’s frustrating that.Chelsea would go to all the trouble of appealing a transfer ban twice & not actually do anything in the window they've been given despite having a year to prepare. What was the point of the appeal?

Why did Chelsea appeal the transfer ban?

Am still trying to figure out why Chelsea fought so hard to get their ban reduced if they were not going to take this January transfer window serious
