Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher helped England’s Under-21s side record a 3-0 victory on Friday – and some Blues supporters on Twitter reacted positively to his performance.

Gallagher scored the second goal of the contest with a thunderbolt from the edge of the box with his left foot.

Meanwhile, Manchester City’s Phil Foden and Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson also got on the scoresheet for England.

Gallagher is a highly-rated midfielder to come through the academy ranks at Stamford Bridge and many are tipping him as someone that could end up in the first-team ranks.

The 19-year-old is spending the season out on loan in the Championship with Charlton and his reputation is increasing every week.

He’s a central midfielder with an eye for goal, scoring five goals and supplying two assists in 16 games for Charlton so far.

It’s no surprise that Blues supporters are getting excited about his prospects after an England masterclass, as current Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has put faith in youth this season.

There is no reason why Gallagher can’t follow in the footsteps of players like Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori if he keeps progressing.

A full campaign of Championship football is a brilliant learning curve for any young player and sets them up well for the Premier League if they are good enough.

Gallagher is a composed ball-playing midfielder that reads the game so well for someone of his inexperience and loves to drive forward.
