Frank Lampard was asked about the possibility of signing Edinson Cavani in his press conference on Monday. He did not rule out the possibility of making a move and expressed his admiration of the player – some Chelsea fans are thrilled with the possibility of signing the Uruguayan.
The PSG forward has seen his first-team chances limited at the Parc des Princes this season. Mauro Icardi’s arrival has seen Cavani make just four starts in Ligue 1 and he is clearly not happy in his current situation.
Sky Sports have reported that the PSG sporting director, Leonardo has confirmed that the 32-year-old has handed in a transfer request. This may lead to his exit this month and Chelsea could be set to pounce.
In his pre-match before Arsenal, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard was asked about Cavani. As reported by the club website, he said: ”Cavani is a great player. I played against him and always loved his mentality and attitude, and obviously his goalscoring record speaks for itself. I’m not aware of his situation so we’ll see.”
He remained coy on the subject, but it is fair to say that he did not rule out making a move for the former Napoli man. The goal record Cavani boasts makes him one of the most feared strikers in Europe. He has scored goals everywhere he has played. It is likely to be no different at Chelsea.
Here are some Chelsea fans reactions on Twitter to the speculation:
It seems rather likely that Cavani could be a Chelsea player by the end of January. I’d love to see it happen, he’s a great experienced player for Tammy to learn from and perhaps even play alongside. https://t.co/IYeTj1dluB

Chelsea should be all over this Cavani Deal. 18 month contract with a potential option of a year extension. Anything under £25m then it doesn't block a Summer move.

Yes. He’s miles better than what we have. Need competition for Tammy. Short term? I’d take him instantly

think chelsea should look at cavani on an 18 month deal proven goal scorer and a bit more of a physical presence up top think it would be a good addition and will add experience to the squad
