Thankfully, Chelsea fans have reason to cheer after Mason Mount was pictured back in training yesterday.

The Blues are currently training ahead of their Club World Cup semi-final match against Al Hilal on Wednesday.

First of all, Mount was absent from Sunday’s training session.

The 23-year-old was substituted off with some pain during Chelsea’s FA Cup win against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday, but still travelled with the squad to the United Arab Emirates for FIFA’s Club World Cup tournament.

However, the England international was back on the training pitches on Monday.

Mount’s been spotted alongside his teammates, who are bidding to win the cup competition for the first time in the club’s entire history.

Big Chelsea boost

It’s music to the ears of Blues fans to see Mount has been participating in training.

It’s a serious relief that the attacking midfielder’s injury scare doesn’t seem too serious.

He’s made 15 direct goal contributions (seven goals, eight assists) so far this season, which is more than anyone else in the Chelsea squad.

It’s a group at Stamford Bridge stacked with bundles of talent, but they’re falling a little short in the attacking department.

They’ve already seen how detrimental injuries to Ben Chilwell and Reece James have been in the past couple of months, so it’s absolutely vital Mount doesn’t follow them with a spell on the sidelines.

The trend in recent weeks has seen manager Thomas Tuchel be flexible with his formation and try out a handful of different systems. Regardless, Mount looks like a pivotal part of the starting line-up, whether that be as an eight or a 10.

It’s interesting to see how his combination play continues to develop with teammate Hakim Ziyech, as it looks like they may be forming a decent link in the final third.

It may be a risk starting Mount tomorrow against Al Hilal, though.
