Chelsea are reportedly holding an interest in RB Leipzig attacker Timo Werner – and some Blues fans on Twitter are extremely excited by the speculation around the Germany international.

The Sun reports that Chelsea are confident that their current transfer ban will be overturned, which would mean they can bring in players in January.

It is explained that Frank Lampard wants more competition at striker and that Olivier Giroud could depart in the next transfer window.

Werner is named as a potential target being eyed by Chelsea, as well as Bournemouth and England international Callum Wilson.

A selection of Blues supporters on social media have given a huge thumbs up to links with Bundesliga hitman Werner and believe he could dazzle at Stamford Bridge.

Werner, 23, is a talented centre-forward that is a nightmare for defenders with his pace and he looks like he could rip it up in the Premier League if he gets the chance.

He has already scored eight times 12 games across all competitions so far this season for Leipzig, with two of them coming in his three Champions League group stage appearances.

The rapid striker would provide a different type of attacker to Tammy Abraham and Michy Batshuayi, as he loves to play on the last shoulder and eat up space in behind defences.

Chelsea’s forward area isn’t perhaps the area that needs focusing on if the transfer ban is squashed, but Lampard needs a strong squad if he wants to achieve a long-term goal of winning silverware and the Leipzig talisman looks a natural finisher.
