Chelsea were involved in a memorable 4-4 draw against Ajax on Tuesday night in the Champions League group stages – and defender Marcos Alonso was someone who came out of it negatively with major criticism from some ans.

But there were once again defensive frailties on show at Stamford Bridge and they struggled for large spells against Ajax, before they received two red cards in a minute to give the hosts a numerical advantage.

Alonso started the contest in his usual left-back position and was substituted off at half-time after a poor display.

But teammate Emerson definitely has the edge defensively and it was a poor night for Alonso against Ajax.

A selection of Blues supporters on social media don’t believe he should be in the starting XI moving forward.
