Chelsea play tomorrow in the FA Cup quarter-finals against Sheffield United – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have demanded in the build-up to the fixture that Billy Gilmour is recalled to the side.

Gilmour, who is a Blues academy graduate, is considered a member of the senior squad.

But the 19-year-old has only played one first-team game since Thomas Tuchel arrived as manager in January.

The central midfielder played in the previous FA Cup round in a win over Barnsley in February, but apart from that game has watched on from the sidelines.

Chelsea start as strong favourites for Sunday’s afternoon fixture against Sheffield United at Stamford Bridge, with the duo having contrasting seasons in the Premier League.

The Blues remain unbeaten under Tuchel, who has a decision to make on whether he rests some players due to the amount of fixtures and with the international break next week.

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media are convinced this weekend is the ideal time for Gilmour to start.

The teenage midfielder is having to be patient waiting for his opportunities to impress the German manager.

He’s a massive talent, but unfortunately he’s competing with N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho for two positions in the XI.

Here are some Chelsea fans discussing Gilmour:
