"Chelsea is my favourite team": Samuel Chukwueze says he grew up supporting Chelsea

Villareal forward Samuel Chukwueze said Chelsea is his favourite team in England.

The 20-year-old is one of the most exciting talents in La Liga and has attracted interest from top clubs.

Recently, former Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla revealed that the Gunners had been asking information about the Nigerian winger.

Asked whether he had received calls on Chukwueze, Cazorla told Marca:  “Yes, Arsenal friends especially. They ask me about them and they believe that tomorrow they can make the leap to the Premier.

“It is good that great teams are interested in young Villarreal players, but for now I tell them to leave them alone here.”

But Chukwueze has recently opened up about his admiration for Chelsea. He was such a big fan to the point he brought to tears when Chelsea lost their first Champions League final game.

He said in an Instagram Live (as quoted by Goal): “My favourite team in England is Chelsea,

“I was supporting Chelsea when I was young. When Chelsea lost that Champions League final against Manchester United, I was crying all through the night.”

Chelsea were so close to claiming their first Champions League title in 2008.

The Blues lost out to Manchester United in the penalty shoot-out after playing out a 1-1 draw for 120 minutes.

But four years later, in 2012, Chelsea finally got their hands on the Champions League trophy, beating Bayern Munich on penalties — and remain the only team in London to win the trophy.
