Didier Drogba in the Premier League Hall of Fame just sounds right.

Although the champion Chelsea striker had to wait a while for his invitation, nobody was surprised when he was added to the illustrious list of former rivals and teammates.

The centre-forward won four league titles whilst wearing blue, winning two Golden Boots in the process.

He scored 104 times in total across two spells at Stamford Bridge, making 254 appearances under eight different managers.

Drogba joins fellow Chelsea legend Frank Lampard in the Hall of Fame, along with other icons such as Paul Scholes, Wayne Rooney, Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry and more.

After being inducted in the history books, the deadly centre-forward celebrated his achievement in a social media post.

Which other ex-Chelsea stars are in the running?

One more of the 25 nominees can sit beside Drogba and Lampard at the 2022 table.

Out of all the remaining candidates, three names will stick out to Chelsea fans more than most.

John Terry, Petr Cech and Ashley Cole are in the running, three stars that helped the Blues become the European power house we know and love today.

Aside from perhaps Peter Schmeichel, Cech is arguably the greatest goalkeeper to have ever graced the Premier League.

He holds the record for the highest number clean sheets, keeping 202 for both Chelsea and Arsenal.

A majority of those shut-outs were aided by the rock-solid presence of captain, leader, legend.

Terry remains the fiercest and most famous skipper to lead out an English side in the modern era.

The 41-year-old didn’t play 713 times for Chelsea and win 15 major honours by fluke.

This sentiment also relates to his fellow countryman.

Has there been a better left-back in English football than Ashley Cole?

Certainly not in the Premier League era, where he made the position his own.

We’ll take any one out of trio in the Hall of Fame, thank you very much.
