Arsenal’s Bernd Leno highlighted how tricky it is to face Chelsea duo, Timo Werner and Antonio Rudiger.
Speaking to Sport1, the Gunners goalkeeper was discussing which members of the Germany national team were awkward opponents.
“Timo Werner is also a disgusting player because he always goes behind the chain and looks for the rooms there,” said Leno.
“Antonio Rudiger is also a good example: Everyone at Arsenal has said that it is extremely bitter and difficult to play against him.
“Such players are good for a team and hurt the opponent.”
Leno will know all about the Chelsea duo from their time with DFB, but also through their rivalry at club level.
Rudiger has proved to be one of the toughest defenders in the division in recent years, whilst Werner’s relentless running is a headache for defences.
Arsenal were 1-0 victors during the recent Premier League meeting at Stamford Bridge, with the Blues pairing on the losing side.
In fact, the Gunners are on a role of three straight wins over their London adversaries, a run that stretches back to last season’s FA Cup final.
Thomas Tuchel is hoping to avoid a trio of consecutive defeats when they face Leicester City in the league tomorrow evening.
Chelsea’s hunt for Champions League qualification still rumbles on.
That recent upset against Arsenal means they have to get something out of their remaining two fixtures to have any chance of a European adventure next term.
This would a great time for Werner to grab a few more goals.
The 25-year-old has scored just three times in all competitions since January and could do with a couple of confidence boosters before this campaign concludes.
