Andreas Christensen is close to signing a new Chelsea contract as the Blues continue negotiations over a contract extension with Antonio Rudiger’s representatives, according to Fabrizio Romano (via CBS Sports).
Romano claims a new deal between Chelsea and Christensen is “imminent”.
The 25-year-old has entered the final year of his contract at the club, but as he shared earlier this month, he felt positive about the potential new contract thanks to Thomas Tuchel’s belief in him.
Last week, The Sun reported that the Denmark international’s new contract is expected to be worth around £120,000-a-week — which is quite a significant pay rise compared to his current £78,000-a-week salary.

Chelsea to continue talks with Rudiger’s agent
It remains unclear, however, whether Rudiger, whose contract also expires next summer, will extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.
Romano mentioned interest from Juventus and Bayern Munich, despite there are no confirmed contacts so far, but Chelsea are unsurprisingly still trying to negotiate a new deal.
In an interview with SID (via Sky Germany), Rudiger admitted that negotiation between Chelsea and his representatives began after the Euro 2020.
“So this is less than two months ago,” he added.
“For me, this will be the most important decision of my professional career, so I won’t rush into anything.
“Personally, I haven’t spoken to any other club than Chelsea.”
Interestingly, Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has recently commented on reports over on their interest in Rudiger, after club manager Julian Nagelsmann openly expressed his admiration for the defender.
