Chelsea manager Graham Potter was pleased by Enzo Fernandez‘s debut against Fulham and believes the midfielder will only get better with time.
The 22-year-old’s start to his Chelsea career, unfortunately, ended with a 0-0 draw against Fulham on Friday.
His performance was clearly among the positives from the game, however.
Fernandez played the number six role really well as he won five tackles and recovered the ball 10 times for the Blues on the pitch.
Potter was unsurprisingly happy with what he saw from the club-record signing.

“I thought it was a fantastic first game,” the manager told Chelsea TV when asked about Fernandez’s debut.
“You could see his quality.
“[It was] not easy because he’s still understanding the players, he’s only been there for a day.
“We’ll get better the more we know him and him us.”
His excellent defensive work rate aside, Fernandez also completed eight passes into the final third as well as seven long balls.
He was also close to scoring his first Premier League goal but his long-ranged strike went slightly wide of the post.
On the other hand, fellow Chelsea January signing Mykhailo Mudryk’s full debut ended after just 45 minutes due to a fitness issue.
“[Mudryk] had a tough 45 minutes, he’s had a heavy cold this week,” Potter explained.
“He felt heavy-legged at half time, and we were taking a chance with building his fitness up.”
