Didier Drogba shared his excited reaction to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang joining Chelsea from Barcelona on yesterday’s transfer deadline day.

Blues fans finally got the news they were waiting for when Aubameyang officially completed his move to Stamford Bridge, signing a two-year deal in West London.

The 33-year-old striker is now back in the Premier League after a brief stint with Barcelona.

Hopefully, the former Arsenal man can score the same volume of goals in Chelsea colours that he has throughout his eye-catching career.

The fact he now reunites with his old manager Thomas Tuchel at a new club is a very exciting one, especially as he performed brilliantly under him at Borussia Dortmund.

Drogba reaction to Aubameyang joining Chelsea

Blues legend Drogba sent Chelsea’s new signing a message on social media following the transfer move:

“Finally! Remember the time we spoke about it years ago. Happy for you brother,” he wrote on Twitter.

The fact Aubameyang has taken the No.9 shirt is something that will frighten Chelsea fans because so many top-class strikers have failed to deliver for the club wearing that number.

However, Aubameyang has always been a confident goalscorer that clearly backs his finishing to do the talking.

If he can recreate anywhere near his best form, the Blues will improve tenfold with him at the top end of the pitch.

Aged 33, the club have signed someone as the finished article with an immediate pressure to score goals and improve the XI.

New Blues attack

Chelsea’s response to their problems in attack has been to replace Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner with Aubameyang and Raheem Sterling.

It’s going to be interesting to see how the new forward pair perform, but most supporters are delighted with what looks like an upgrade on paper.

Sterling, who’s been excellent so far this season, has added some much-needed enthusiasm in attack.
