Frank Lampard was full of praise for Benoit Badiashile after his Chelsea performance this weekend against Bournemouth.

A fragile Chelsea side travelled to Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon off the back of six consecutive defeats across all competitions.

However, the Blues left the south coast with three Premier League points and an eye-catching 3-1 win.

Bournemouth star Vina cancelled out Conor Gallagher’s opening goal to have the sides level going into the closing stages. Thankfully, Benoit Badiashile and Joao Felix scored late goals for the visitors to cause huge celebrations in the away end.

It’s been a tough ride for Lampard since returning to Chelsea as the caretaker manager, but he can be very pleased with his side’s efforts earlier today.

In particular, he singled out Blues defender Badiashile for a great individual display.

“I think we all saw Benoit today and it’s pretty clear he has a big talent,” Lampard said, as quoted by Football London.

Badiashile seized his opportunity over the weekend by delivering a strong performance on his return to the side.

The left-footed centre-half stepped into the defence alongside Thiago Silva, with the duo kept busy by Bournemouth at times.

Eventually, Badiashile popped up at the other end of the pitch with a vital goal to set Chelsea on their way to a much-needed result.

The 22-year-old talent should feel unlucky that he’s not played more since joining in the New Year, with the decision to omit him from the Champions League squad proving to be a costly one.

He’s definitely done enough in 10 Blues appearances so far to get the fanbase excited about his future, though.

Micah Richards called Badiashile one of the “brightest young talents in the world” earlier this year. We agree with you, Micah!
