Chelsea manager Graham Potter said he completely understands that many of the club supporters are frustrated amid calls for him to leave the club.

Each one of Chelsea’s recent social media posts is full of negative responses from fans who want the manager out.

In the stadiums, it is hardly any better.

Potter’s Chelsea side were booed off the pitch following last weekend’s defeat to Southampton at Stamford Bridge, while many of the away Chelsea supporters left Tottenham Hotspur Stadium 10 minutes before the full-time whistle.

Potter admitted that these reactions were justified.

“I can’t necessarily think too much about 40,000 or 50,000 people,” the manager said in his post-match press conference (via Football London).

“I need to focus on what I can control, which is the next day and the next training session.

“Our supporters have been very fair and have supported the team. I’ve no complaints with the supporters.

“They are entitled to be frustrated, upset, and angry with the results we’ve got and that is my responsibility.

“So I have no complaints with the supporters.”

Potter also compared his situation with Jurgen Klopp’s at Liverpool.

Both teams are struggling and the fans of each club are not happy with the managers.

In Klopp’s case, however, he already has achieved a lot with the club and Potter is aware of that, too.

“That is the nature of football,” he explained.

“I haven’t done enough at this club to have too much good faith; I also accept that.”

Well, it is up to the Chelsea owners and board members to make any decision about Potter’s future at the club, so the only thing the manager can do is to try to improve his team.
