Harry Redknapp has admitted he’s found Chelsea talent Billy Gilmour “so impressive” whenever he’s watched him.
Gilmour, 20, is a youngster who’s part of the Blues senior squad, so has had exposure to first-team football on a top stage.
Despite the fact he’s only played 22 senior games for Chelsea so far, his reputation is a big one.
The technical central midfielder has experienced Champions League football with the current holders, as well as some domestic minutes under current Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel.
Additionally, he gets to train every single day alongside top-class midfield teammates in Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante.
Redknapp has given Gilmour a special mention ahead of Friday night’s Euro 2020 showdown between Scotland and England.
Scottish playmaker Gilmour is still waiting to make his tournament debut at the Euros, but he’s a confident midfielder who could be needed against England.
“Billy Gilmour’s another one [for Scotland]. He’s been so impressive when given the chance for Chelsea,” Redknapp said.
Gilmour looks a star in the making at Chelsea
Gilmour, along with some of the other young Chelsea stars at Stamford Bridge, could be in the spine of the Blues team for the next decade.
Scottish midfielder Gilmour is having to be patient for his minutes right now, but there is no doubt he merits his spot in the main squad.
He’s so effective operating as a deep-lying playmaker where he dictates possession, so surely Scotland need someone with his skillset against England.
His future looks so exciting for Chelsea fans to follow.
