‘He has everything’: Tuchel says Chelsea player has amazing potential, can be one of the very best

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel says Reece James has everything to be one of the very best players around.

James, who recorded his eighth Premier League assist of the season during yesterday’s 1-1 draw against Leicester City, has had an eye-catching year.

The 22-year-old’s had to show plenty of determination by overcoming an injury, but he’s been a talisman in the Blues XI when fit.

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers highlighted the right wing-back’s quality after Thursday’s league contest.

Tuchel says Reece James has everything

Chelsea’s academy graduate James should be delighted by what he’s hearing from his own manager.

The England international really doesn’t have any obvious weaknesses to his game, making him so important in both halves of the pitch.

This Chelsea side really rely on him as an attacking threat from wide areas, making 15 direct goal contributions in 38 games across all competitions this season. It’s clear the powerhouse’s defensive game continues to improve, too.

Tuchel has put his neck on the line when talking about the amazing potential James has.

“He (James) has everything that it takes to be one of the very best, but there is a long way to go for Reece,” Tuchel said.

“There is some incredible potential and he has the ability, the foundation, the body, the physique, the mindset to make his way to the very top, but there is still a long way to go. We will support him. We will push him so he can be that player for Chelsea.”

How many genuine superstars at Chelsea?

The likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid can claim to have at least two or three genuine superstars in the side.

For Chelsea, it’s still a building project where Tuchel’s trying to take his team to the top.

N’Golo Kante may be the individual in the squad that belongs in the very elite bracket, albeit his injury-hit season has damaged him this year.

Let’s hope the likes of James, Kai Havertz and Mason Mount can fulfil immense potential to reach the summit.
