Chelsea legend Marcel Desailly has waxed lyrical about Blues talent Carney Chukwuemeka following his efforts on Sunday.
The Stamford Bridge icon was speaking to Premier League Productions (20/08/23, 5:30pm) during Chelsea’s Premier League meeting with West Ham.
Chukwuemeka scored the only Chelsea goal of the game in the disappointing 3-1 defeat in East London.

The 19-year-old produced some exceptional footwork before firing the ball past Alphonse Areola for the equaliser.
He was one of the Blues’ best players of the match, though his shift sadly ended before half time due to injury.
After attempting to win the ball in a 50/50 challenge against Emerson, Chukwuemeka seemed to sustain a knock to his knee.
He did not immediately get up after the challenge but played on before being replaced by Mykhailo Mudryk.
Desailly liked what he saw from Chukwuemeka during the first half, describing him as an “artist” and “clinical”.
“I like Carney Chukwuemeka because he is like an artist who comes onto the stage,” said the Frenchman.
“He has got the ball. Now is my moment. Shine. You see the dribbling.
“He is sure about what he is going to do and he is clinical. I love it.”

Our view
Chelsea have an absolutely outstanding talent in their ranks in Chukwuemeka.
At just 19, he’s already showing he has what it takes to deliver in the Premier League.
Sadly, Chelsea are now sweating on Chukwuemeka’s fitness.
Let’s hope that, when the update comes, it’s not as negative as currently feared.
