Thomas Tuchel has revealed in his post-match interview that Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen came off at half time against Arsenal because of an injury problem.
It was a depressing evening for Chelsea on Wednesday night, suffering a 4-2 loss at home to Arsenal in the Premier League.
The Blues came from behind on two separate occasions to show some fight, but eventually capitulated in the second half at Stamford Bridge.
Christensen, who was at fault for the first goal Chelsea conceded with a sloppy pass, was substituted off at the half-time interval.
However, Blues manager Tuchel has confirmed the 26-year-old had an injury issue that forced off him.
“He said he could not continue so I think he had some problems and that’s why. I don’t take a player off because he makes one mistake. I have to also say the pitch is difficult to play here,” Tuchel said.

Calamitous Chelsea defending
It was a night to forget for the Blues defence.
The absence of injured centre-back Antonio Rudiger left a major hole in the back three. In addition, Thiago Silva didn’t start the contest and only came on at half time because of the injury.
It was a difficult evening for Malang Sarr, too. In fairness, he’s not a regular in the side at the Bridge.
The team were imperious defensively in the opening few months of the season, but they’ve completely lost that previous strength. It’s now 11 goals conceded in the previous three games at home.
Tuchel’s now got to try lift his side once again after another bump in the road because there’s still work to be done in order to stay third and clinch a top-four finish.
