LOSC Lille striker Victor Osimhen said he was beyond happy when he visited Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge in December.
The 21-year-old has been under the radar of a number of top clubs, according to a report from Le10 Sport.
Osimhen has scored 18 goals for Lille in all competitions, including his goal against Chelsea back in October.
He cancelled out Tammy Abraham’s opener in the 33rd minute, but Chelsea eventually came out with the three points thanks to Willian’s match-winning goal.
Osimhen told Nigeria Info: “I didn’t sleep after scoring my first scoring my first Champions League goal because after the game, we had a free day the following day.”
“Many of my friends are Chelsea fans, so they told me they don’t care if Chelsea win or not that I’m going to score my team’s only goal.”
Osimhen spent the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge in December as an unused substitute.
His side lost 2-0 to Frank Lampard’s men but Osimhen still felt the joy of visiting Chelsea’s home.
He said: “I was happy to be at Stamford Bridge, when I walked on to the pitch.
“I called all my friends via conference call that I was on the pitch because I was happy to be on the grass where my idol Drogba scored many goals. I cherished the moment.”
Osimhen has always been open on his admiration for the Chelsea legend.
He told the Independent a few weeks ago: We used to watch Didier Drogba all the time [back home], he is my idol.”
In the interview he also said he had the options to join Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, Inter Milan and Arsenal before he joined Wolfsburg in 2016.
“I wanted to start playing as soon as I turned 18. I wanted to go to a place where I had time to invest in my game and improve physically,” he explained his decision.
