Chelsea’s team news for tonight’s match at Crystal Palace is in.
Frank Lampard keeps his team from the 3-0 win against Watford, except for Billy Gilmour who comes in for injured N’Golo Kante.
The race is on for a top four finish and the manager understandably wants to avoid risks of any slip-ups by sticking with a winning formula.
Starting Gilmour over Jorginho is an interesting decision, though.

Lampard previously explained how he wants his midfield fluid.
He told Chelsea’s official website: “If we feel like we are going to have a lot of control, generally I play with midfield players that can play high, can play on the side, and can do the defensive duties as well.
“Mason Mount really has that and his work off the ball is fantastic for us.”
Lampard also named Ross Barkley as another player who fits the role, alongside Mount.
“With Jorginho, I think he also can but his role predominantly in his career has been from a deeper position,” he added.
“Jorginho has to do nothing different [to earn selection]. He trains well, he is good for the group on and off the pitch, he is vice-captain of the club.
“It is purely my choice at the moment with what I see and the games in front of me and how I like the make-up of the midfield to be.
“Sometimes it can be affected by the other players that are in that midfield where I think we need more defensive attributes in the game.”
The last part could explain why Gilmour was given the nod to start ahead of Jorginho.
Mount and Barkley will likely play more adventurous roles and the manager simply considers Gilmour can do a better job at the base of the midfield three.
Some Chelsea fans on Twitter are having none of that, though, as they voice out their disappointment over the team selection.
Justice for Jorginho.

This is unfair on Jorginho
In a crucial match like this, I expect Lampard to be logical and put his ego aside.
Playing Gilmour in front a defence that has conceded huge of goals this season ain't reasonable to me, I know Jorginho ain't defensive too but I prefer him to Gilmour

I like him, he’s been good for Chelsea on the pitch & as a leader. But it’s simple, he’s a victim of circumstance. Lampard is going in a direction formation wise, where Jorginho just doesn’t fit great. He’s not a true 6/DM.
It’s not personal. It’s a business.

Pretty odd starting Gilmour considering his awful cameos. You can think what you like about Jorginho but Lampard not choosing on merit won’t rub off well on the current squad players.
