‘It’s a shame’: Frank Lampard disappointed at what could be about to happen at Chelsea this summer

Chelsea interim manager Frank Lampard has claimed he is disappointed that there is a big chance Mason Mount will be leaving this summer.

He told Football London that he was unsure if the England international has played his final game for the club after the extent of his injury was revealed.

Mount is reportedly set to miss the majority of the rest of the season, and the lower-importance of the games left this campaign could see him not risked again.

Talks have seemingly not progressed close to a point where an agreement could be reached soon.

This is despite rumours that Todd Boehly has been in active conversations with the 24-year-old within the last week.

Despite things not being over yet between the two parties, Lampard has claimed that the potential sale would be disappointing for him based on his abilities.

Lampard disappointed at Mount situation

He said: “I don’t know the answer to that [if he has played his final game for Chelsea], it’s a conversation between Mason and the club. It’s not final at this point and we’ll have to see because those conversations are ongoing.

“It’s a shame for me personally because I think everyone knows how I feel about working with Mason and I like to think he feels the same about me and we could have done with him in the games we’ve played already this season.

“But the bigger picture is something that’s going to become clearer in the next weeks and months, and that will be the club and Mason together having conversations.”

Mount will certainly not be short of suitors if the club do decide to sell the player before he enters the final year of his deal.

Liverpool are certainly the reported favourites if the Englishman does change clubs this summer.
