'I've had a message': Sky journalist shares what Chelsea player's agent has told him after Abramovich sanctioned

Kaveh Solhekol claims Chelsea have already paid well in advance for all travel for the rest of the season.

There is so much uncertainty around the Blues after owner Roman Abramovich was sanctioned by the UK government on Thursday, which freezes his assets. Subsequently, plenty of sanctions have been put on Chelsea football club.

A special licence that’s been issued by the government means the club can still play in games, plus wages will continue to be paid. However, there’s a ban on outgoing and incoming transfers, and the club can’t sell any extra tickets beyond existing season ticket holders.

The club can’t spent more than £20,000 per game on travel. Therefore, some issues could crop up depending on Champions League commitments.

Sky Sports journalist Solhekol says London giants Chelsea have arranged all financial packages for travel, though.

“I’ve had a message from somebody who represents one of the players at Chelsea, and he’s telling me he believes Chelsea have already paid in advance for all their travel for the rest of the season,” Solhekol said.

“If that information is correct, that would mean the Chelsea players will carry on travelling in the manner they’ve become accustomed.”

For Chelsea fans, they want to know how this saga impacts the chances of the club being sold.

Abramovich will reportedly need assistance and approval from the government to complete a sale to a buyer, but he’s in danger of making no money from a takeover.

Chelsea players have so much to play for

Hopefully, the Blues squad can park what’s happening around the club to focus on what’s happening on the pitch.

They’re still playing in the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League this season.

It sounds like they could lose players given restrictions on extending the contracts of current individuals, so several may be playing their final few months at Stamford Bridge.

Now is the perfect time for Thomas Tuchel’s group to form a siege mentality.
