Chelsea’s owners reportedly admire Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim, but there’s no indication that they’re looking to get rid of Graham Potter.
According to journalist Simon Phillips on his Substack, sources claim there’s still confidence from the Blues hierarchy in Potter as the head coach at Stamford Bridge.
They’re looking at Mikel Arteta’s recent success at Arsenal as the reward for sticking with a manager during tough periods early into his tenure.
It is understood that Sporting boss Amorim, 38, is someone “appreciated” by the Chelsea ownership group.
However, that doesn’t mean there’s a change over their stance on Potter’s role at Stamford Bridge.

Everything circling around the club right now suggests Potter will get longer to turn things around at Chelsea, which hopefully can start at the weekend in the game against Tottenham.
Last Saturday’s defeat at home to Southampton in the Premier League was a real low point for the fanbase, but there’s a London derby this week to try repair some of the damage.
For Potter, everyone knows he’s got an unbelievably large squad right now and it must be a nightmare to manage a group that big.
However, the team desperately need to start posting better results given the quality still on the pitch.

Ruben Amorim namedropped
It’s interesting to hear Amorim mentioned as someone that Chelsea like.
Despite being just 38, he’s already won five trophies in his career as a young manager. He’s won four pieces of silverware with current side Sporting, as well as one at previous club Braga.
His preferred 3-4-3 system is certainly one that Chelsea fans are familiar with because both Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte have enjoyed success with it in West London in the past.
