Chelsea are reportedly hopeful that new signing Marc Cucurella can be available to play tomorrow against Everton.

The Blues confirmed on Friday afternoon the signing of Cucurella from Premier League rivals Brighton, who’s signed a huge six-year contract at Stamford Bridge.

Aged 24, the exciting left-back joins after a brilliant first year in English football last season.

Brighton’s 2021/22 player of the year looked tailor-made for the Premier League with his performances in the last 12 months, so the ex-Barcelona youngster has now earned his big transfer. He’s reportedly costing £55million, plus a potential £7million in bonuses.

Chelsea hopeful Cucurella can play against Everton

ESPN journalist James Olley has shared on Twitter that Chelsea are keeping their fingers crossed that Cucurella has been registered in time for Saturday, which is when the Blues kickstart their Premier League season.

Thomas Tuchel’s side travel to Goodison Park to face Everton tomorrow for a 5:30pm kick-off.

In addition, the latest Chelsea signing is joining up with his new teammates this afternoon for training.

“Chelsea are hopeful Cucurella has been registered in time to be involved against Everton tomorrow. Will train with his team-mates for the first time this afternoon,” Olley noted on Twitter.

Cucurella showed at Brighton he’s so effective as a left wing-back with relentless energy. Therefore, him and Ben Chilwell should really be able to push each other on to new heights.

However, you can also fit him into the line-up as a centre-half. It’s been reported Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has considered the idea of playing him as a centre-back.
