Chelsea’s Mason Mount made some interesting tactical choices when he played a FIFA 20 game against West Ham’s Declan Rice.
The game was streamed on Chelsea’s official Youtube channel on Tuesday night as the pair battle it out on “Ultimate FIFA 20 Showdown”.
Both picked their respective clubs West Ham and Chelsea, but Mount made some tactical decisions that are different from those which Frank Lampard usually deploys.
Mount opted for the 4-4-2 diamond formation with Giroud and Willian up top.
Rice was also confused with the Brazilian’s unusual role, saying: “Willian as a striker?”
Mount explained: “Yeah because he has got the pace (to run) in behind, Giroud comes to feed, sets, plays and then you’ve got Willian running in behind, rapid.”

Despite his enthusiasm by playing the ‘Liquidator’ before the game and during the half-time to set the atmosphere, it is safe to say Mount is not as good on FIFA 20 as he is on the pitch.
Just 12 minutes in and Mount’s Chelsea conceded a penalty and were down to ten men after Kurt Zouma was shown the red card.
Mount got an equaliser right before the half-time but found himself trailing by two goals 13 minutes after the second half started.
The 21-year-old made the game more interesting a few minutes before the full-time by closing in with another Giroud’s goal but in the end, Rice’s West Ham came out victorious.
