'Monster': Some Chelsea fans stunned by what their £50m star did in Euro 2020 match last night

Chelsea supporters on social media were blown away by Jorginho’s recent masterclass for Italy at the European Championships.

Roberto Mancini’s side strolled to a successive 3-0 win in the group stages last night, with Switzerland their latest victim.

Goals from Manuel Locatelli and Ciro Immobile stole the headlines. However, Jorginho’s silent display was statistically superb.

According to Squawka, the 29-year-old won more duels (seven) and fouls (five) than anyone on the field.

He also had a passing accuracy of 90%, made six-ball recoveries, and managed three interceptions.

Blues fans in awe of Jorginho’s numbers, but recognised this was nothing new for their linchpin midfielder.

Here’s how they reacted on Twitter:

There is a sense that Jorginho’s talents have only been appreciated properly in the past 12 months or so.

His £50m (Sky Sports) move to Chelsea in 2018 has been laced with criticism and doubt over his abilities.

But yesterday evening was another indication of his intelligence, both with and without the ball.

It’s something Blues followers have begun to truly value whilst he’s striding across the Stamford Bridge turf.

Of course, there have been moments of doubt, like any player faces in their career.

To Jorginho’s credit, he’s never shied away from his role or tried to change his game to please the critics.

And his endeavour is certainly being paid off, especially if Italy can claim Euros glory next month.
