'No surprise': Chelsea teammates react to 23-year-old's individual award

Several Chelsea players have had their say on Mason Mount’s being named the club’s player of the season for two seasons in a row on Sunday.

The 23-year-old finished the season with the most goals (11) and assists (10) for Chelsea in the Premier League this season.

He also the youngest Chelsea player to reach double figures in goals and assists in the Premier League back in May.

He is also only the fifth player to accomplish this feat after Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba, Juan Mata, and Eden Hazard.

Overall, Mount racked up 29 goal contributions in all competitions this term, well clear of his teammates.

It is hardly a surprise that the England international retains the player of the season award, becoming the first Chelsea player to win the award in two consecutive seasons since Hazard in 2014/2015.

Many of his Chelsea teammates also seem to agree with the decision.

“No surprise,” Trevoh Chalobah wrote in response to Mount’s recent Instagram post.

Rudiger commented: “Love my brother, always.”

“What a player,” Saul Niguez added.

Thiago Silva, who was a close second behind Mount in the voting, also reacted positively in the comment section.

It is safe to say that Chelsea fans can expect more from the versatile midfielder next season given his increasing output since breaking into the first team under Frank Lampard.
