Christian Pulisic said he enjoys playing alongside Kai Havertz and insisted that everyone at Chelsea believes in the Germany international’s abilities as a No.9.

Havertz got the nod to lead the line for Chelsea once again at Selhurst Park, and was arguably the star of their 4-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The 21-year-old gave Chelsea the lead with a left-foot strike in the 8th minute, before providing the assist for Pulisic’s goal two minutes later.

He could have scored more, having had four shots on target in the game, more than anyone on the pitch.

But his clever positioning, which made those attempts possible in the first place, showed why Thomas Tuchel has so much faith in him in that position.

Tuchel is not the only one, though, as Pulisic also praised Havertz’s performance in the central forward role.

“Yeah, of course, we all believe in him,” Pulisic said in his post-match interview when asked whether he knows why Tuchel believes in Havertz as a No.9 (via Mola TV).

“We know what he can do as a player.

“Obviously, we’re able to see a little bit of it today, so we’re happy for him.

“And yeah, he’s a fun guy to play with.”

Havertz himself has also explained why the role suits his playing style very well.

“It’s a good position for me,” he told Sky Sports in his post-match interview (via Football Daily).

“I think I have the freedom to go everywhere I want to go.

“I hope I can continue like that.”
