Chelsea supporters on social media tipped their hats to Kepa Arrizabalaga for the role he played in getting Saul Niguez to Stamford Bridge.
Shortly after it was announced Saul would be joining the Blues on a season-long loan from Atletico Madrid, the Spaniard released his thoughts on Ibai’s Twitch channel.
Among many things, the midfielder mentioned how Kepa’s presence within Thomas Tuchel’s squad influenced his decision to leave Atletico.
“Kepa has been my friend for a long time,” said Saul.

“It’s important that he is there.
“I would have second thoughts if he wasn’t at Chelsea.”
Blues fans were delighted at their goalkeeper’s contribution, saving his best work away from the field.

Kepa has certainly been feeling a lot of love from the Chelsea faithful in the past two months.
He was the man of the hour in the UEFA Super Cup final win over Villarreal.
The 26-year-old saved two spot-kicks to ensure the Blues were victorious in Europe once again.
His next accolade was the part he played in getting Saul over to South West London.
Although Kepa was not the only reason behind his compatriot’s transfer, he was certainly involved in the process surreptitiously.

Their relationship blossomed whilst away on international duty with Spain.
Both began their journey at U-18s level and were winners of the U-19s European Championships together.
They also faced off against each other on several occasions, whilst Kepa was featuring for Athletic Bilboa.
Now club teammates, the duo will be hoping to create more success in a Chelsea shirt.
