Report: 22-year-old Chelsea player has had a really positive impact on the dressing room

Wesley Fofana has been a huge positive around the Chelsea dressing room, according to reports.

The Evening Standard claims that the 22-year-old defender has been a ‘positive influence’ within the squad to lift spirits during a difficult season.

He’s been spotted always smiling around Cobham, and it sounds like he’s great for morale.

Fofana, who joined from Leicester City last summer for £70million, has had to wait patiently to show the Chelsea fanbase what he’s all about.

The French centre-back was very unfortunate to miss a large chunk of this season through injury, but his return recently has coincided with some more positive results.

He’s started the previous two games against Leeds United and Borussia Dortmund, which both resulted in crucial victories.

The youngster plays with such a big personality on the pitch with aggression and a front-footed approach, so we’re not surprised to hear he’s great around the group as well.

It does feel like he’s a possible successor to Antonio Rudiger, who’s a big personality that has been missed around Stamford Bridge since his move to Real Madrid last year.

Pat Nevin is tipping Fofana to become a really important player moving forward.

Fofana has slotted effortlessly into the XI as the right-sided centre-back in a back three, which suits his game because he can be expansive with his passing and combative with his defending.

The right-hand side of Chelsea looks so eye-catching with Reece James at wing-back in front of Fofana.

We expect new leaders to emerge in 2023 as a lot of new faces begin to settle in west London, and Fofana looks like a real gem who can help both on and off the pitch.
