A group that includes Sir Martin Broughton and Sebastien Coe are reportedly set to make an offer to buy Chelsea in the coming hours.
According to BBC Sport, a consortium that includes the aforementioned duo will launch a takeover bid in the next 48 hours before Friday’s deadline.
It’s been confirmed by 74-year-old Broughton that Lord Coe, who’s a big Chelsea fan, is joining his attempts to buy the London club.
“I am absolutely delighted to welcome Lord Coe to our bid. His reputation speaks for itself, and he will bring phenomenal insight, leadership, and sporting knowledge to Chelsea Football Club,” he told the BBC.
Broughton, who was briefly Liverpool chairman over a decade ago, is one of numerous interested parties in Chelsea.
The speculation is widespread about who will be the successful investors to buy the club, whose sale is being overseen by the US bank, The Raine Group.

Chelsea links will win over fans
For certain, any new ownership that includes connections to the club will get a big tick from the current fanbase.
Chelsea fan Nick Candy, who’s recruited ex-Blues manager Gianluca Vialli to be part of his takeover bid, will reportedly make a £2.5billion offer imminently.
It will be great to get back to focusing on the football at some stage, especially as the team are playing so well and reached the Champions League quarter-finals yesterday.
However, you can’t help but worry about what happens next in the takeover story.
