Chelsea have reportedly called off today’s training session as a preventive action due to fears of coronavirus.
According to a report from The Athletic, someone “close to the squad” complained that they were suffering from COVID-19-like symptoms and the Chelsea players were ordered not to turn up to training on Thursday ahead of Premier League match against Aston Villa.
Based on the report, the unidentified person has not been diagnosed with the coronavirus but Chelsea have reportedly deep-cleaned Cobham training centre in the hope to prevent the spread of the virus.
The Premier League has been under pressure to suspend upcoming games, following steps of Spanish La Liga and Italian Serie A.
It was announced that Chelsea’s Champions League round of 16 second-leg fixture against Bayern Munich on March 18 will be played behind closed doors (Chelsea official site).
There has been no official announcement from Chelsea regarding the situation.
