Chelsea have reportedly identified Ben Chilwell and Hakim Ziyech as their top transfer targets for the summer window. ESPN has claimed that the Blues see the Ajax and Leicester players as the perfect additions to take the club to the next level in the 2020/21 season.
It is becoming more and more likely that the Blues are not going to make any additions in the January transfer window. With just three days before the deadline slams shut, there does not appear to be anything nearing completion, and fans may have to wait until the summer to see some new faces.
However, when the summer comes round, there could be some serious changes at the club. Lampard has been given the go-ahead to have a summer overhaul of his squad and the club’s hierarchy are keen to make some marquee moves.
Leicester left-back Chilwell and Ajax’s right-sided midfielder Ziyech would be two brilliant signings for the club. They would address two problem areas instantly and could make a real difference to the inconsistencies Chelsea are suffering from currently.
The 23-year-old defender would instantly improve the club’s left-back choices and would no doubt bring a new attacking impetus down the left-side that the Blues are really missing. Ziyech would bring masses of creativity on the right side and his goal and assist record makes for very exciting reading.
He has scored six goals and provided 13 assists in 18 Eredivisie games this season and possesses the cutting edge Chelsea are missing. If the Blues can secure both in the summer, fans would no doubt forgive the club for the lack of January signings. They would hugely improve Lampard’s side and take Chelsea back to the top-level once again.
