Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly is determined to keep Mason Mount, who recently hired an advisor ahead of expected further talks over a new contract, according to 90min.
The situation surrounding Mount’s uncertain future at Chelsea is actually not complicated.
The 24-year-old is now close to entering the final year of his contract with Chelsea, and if he does not agree to an extension in the summer, the club is expected to be prepared to sell him.
This makes sense since Chelsea would otherwise face the risk of losing such a valuable asset on a free transfer next year.

The versatile midfielder has reportedly hired football agent Neil Fewings, who will work as an advisor ahead of new talks with Chelsea or potentially other clubs.
This does not mean Mount is looking to leave the club, however.
He has reportedly turned down a few offers from Chelsea in the last year, but bear in mind that Mount has been one of the lowest earners in the squad while arguably being one of their best performers in the last three seasons.
If, as previously reported, Chelsea are offering him a long-term deal, similar to their recent signings, this deal could also be the England international’s last big contract as a player.
From Chelsea’s perspective, maintaining the wage structure is also important.
That said, 90min adds that Chelsea Boehly is still keen on keeping Mount, which is hardly a surprise.
In addition to being a fan favourite, the midfielder’s homegrown status will be important in European competitions.
Many fans will hope that Chelsea and Mount can find a middle ground this summer despite the reported big gap between the two parties in negotiations.
