Chelsea target Alex Telles could be on his way out of FC Porto this month. A Bola has reported that the Portuguese club are keen to avoid losing him on a free when his contract is up in 18 months.
They are said to be interested in allowing the Brazilian to move on this month if the price is right. The 27-year-old left-back has a 40 million Euro release clause but could be available for even less if he makes his intentions to leave the club clear.
The Blues are in desperate need of a full-back this month. Lampard has made Cesar Azpilicueta his preferred left-back choice, but his reliance on his right side limits the Chelsea threat down the left. Although the Spaniard does a job there, his tendency to shift the ball onto his right slows down attacks constantly. Lampard needs a left-sided left-back to play the system he wants to effectively.
Marcos Alonso and Emerson have been deemed surplus to requirements and Chelsea should seriously consider a move for Telles. His release clause is not high considering his ability and he would be a big upgrade at left-back. Not only is he strong defensively, but he also poses a massive threat going forward.
The Porto man has scored five goals this season and provided five assists in just 16 Liga Nos appearances. These are outstanding attacking returns for a full-back.
The former Galatasaray defender is reportedly not keen on signing a new deal with Porto. If the club is willing to let him go this month, Lampard must do everything he can to secure his signature.
